Why home is where kindness begins…in the hearts shaped around the dinner table?

The values we are taught at home quietly shape how we approach work, philanthropy, and relationships. I was raised to value integrity and connection, and I carry that with me to this day.

Many have not had the right guidance early on, but they chose good values, creating a better legacy and taking a different path for their children, family and their work.

I spent time with my family last weekend, and it reminded me of how grounding those bonds are, especially in these difficult times. When the world feels uncertain, returning to the people and beliefs that shaped us can bring clarity, strength, and perspective.

When strong principles are nurtured, they don’t stay at home. They travel with us into boardrooms, partnerships, communities, and the work we do to make a difference. For some, these foundations start in the family; for others, they’re shaped by life experience, chosen support systems, or other guides. However they form, they become the anchors that shape how we move in the world.

Do you feel the values you learned in your family or community influence how you work today?
